The present continuous tense form is used to show that something is happening in a specific moment or period.
It’s mostly used with ‘action’ verbs, and not with verbs indicating possession or preference.
Form the present continuous with the auxiliary verb “to be” and the “-ing” form of the main verb
I am working
you are working
he/she/it is working
we are working
you are working
they are working
Invert the subject and auxiliary verb to form a question:
Are you eating?
Use “not” to make the verb negative. The auxiliary verb is often contracted:
I am not studying.
She’s not watching a film.
The present continuous tense form is often used for describing programed future events. For example:
They are leaving next month.
I’m going to the cinema tonight.
